Professional Bat Removal

Bat Removal

Generally, Bats have been the object of unfair myths, abuses, and evil portents. And some of these sentiments still hold till today. So, in every way, the presence of bats in homes or property is an eerie sight, a problematic issue to most homeowners, especially in Jackson, MS.

However, while most of these myths are already disproven, it does not reduce the collective hatred bats receive, nor does it remove evidence of the physical damage caused. Since Bats can adapt to a wide range of temperatures and living conditions, they can be found in almost all States and regions in America, including the suburban and city centers of Alabama, Jackson, Mississippi, and even Louisiana.

Although Bats are highly beneficial to the human population and the ecosystem, it is never fancy to have them in your home. We at Critter Capture Jackson understand their roles to humans like;

  • Insect population control
  • Seed dispersals
  • Pollination, and
  • Food for other predators

Yet, for the damage they cause, you should always take preventive and professional steps in getting rid of them from your properties.

The Damages Bat Cause and how to detect their presence

People often overlook the services of pest removal agencies like Critter-Capture until it gets too late. And best believe you do not want to deal with Bats or other pests they bring at this stage. It will be costlier and more destructive for an infestation scenario to get bats out of the property.

Here are some of the damages Bats cause;

  • Carriers of other pests

It is not enough that bats are nasty pests themselves; they also introduce other pests to the home. Their ability to fly wide and perch far means they unintentionally spread pests and other smaller insects (fleas, ticks, bugs, and so on) into human settlements.

  • Structural damage

Bats weirdly hang upside down from trees, roofs, or other structures. And are usually oblivious to the strength of such materials. Having a large bat population in your space can do lots of structural damage to garden trees and items, sagging roofs, wires, and so on.

  • Eerie and loud noises in their colony

One annoying quality about Bats is that they do not have to come into your home to become disturbing. Also, their nocturnal nature means that you are robbed of a good night’s sleep if they ever get to your property.

  • The nasty and foul stench in your homes

Although bats cannot chew their way into the homes, they may find other means. However, they need no announcements as their foul odor, and presence/smell of droppings do it best. Sadly, it may take a while before you successfully trace the source of the stench.

  • Bats can contaminate the area and other substances

Aside from the insects and bugs they spread, Bats also transmit diseases from other microorganisms like; bacteria, fungi, viruses, and so on. Through their urine and droppings, Bats can contaminate open surfaces and foods.

Also, their bite (bloodsucking bats) is dangerous to livestock and other farm animals.

Generally, it is not healthy to keep bats around the close space of human settlements but within the ecosystem. Critter Capture services prevent and remove bats but help settle them in other regions and spaces. Visit pestcontrolbat.com  to learn more about bats.

Bat removal

Bat removal is usually a daunting and complicated task, especially alone. However, it is not impossible if you follow the steps.

  • Investigation

Before starting a removal technique, you must first investigate;

  • the presence of the pests,
  • the type/species as applicable,
  • the extent of damage done to the property

Some indicators that you may have the flying, nocturnal visitors, include;

  • The presence of little but extended droppings in the property perimeter
  • Weird and irritating noises from walls, attic, trees, ceilings
  • Discoloration of soffit, fascia boards
  • Animals hanging upside down the tree branches

It also involves knowing certain habits about the pests, like; their

  • Feeding patterns
  • Birthing season,
  • Mating periods,
  • Hibernation period

These are important so that you will do an excellent job of ridding the pests from your home without a chance of leaving behind pups or eggs (other problems).

  • Inspecting and Solving the problems

It is a scientific fact that most species of bats are almost blind during the day and will more likely search for dark spaces. Since they cannot chew their way or dig holes like rodents, they mostly slide in through openings in the home like vents, pipes, and so on.

After inspection and discovery of the problem, the next step is to seal and prevent such issues in the future. There are many ways to seal openings and prevent bat colonies in your homes. However, any of the methods you adopt must be humane and not lead to catastrophic death.

It is illegal in some states (and even sanctionable) to kill animals indiscriminately. This can make it difficult for some to adopt a non-destructive mode of pest control. This is why most people prefer a professional means of Pest control like Critter Capture; Bat Removal and control is almost impossible as a DIY project.

  • Bat Prevention and Techniques

Critter Capture also helps commercial facilities and homeowners to prevent the established colony of a bat. When it comes to keeping bats out, the best mechanism is to prevent them from gaining entry into the property in the first place.

There are many Bat infestation prevention techniques a person can adopt to keep the bats out of the land, including;

  • Using natural Bats repellents

There are many synthetic and natural ingredients used to repel bats these days. These chemicals are unpleasant to bats rather than damaging to their health.

These chemicals can serve as a redistribution mechanism to keep the bats from properties.

  • Seal of all cracks

If your property is in the path of bats or receives frequent visits, you should prepare for the worst. Bats can squeeze themselves into small openings if they get the chance.

So, if you want to be sure of bats entering your property, you must seal up every pathway, chimney, crack, or other possible space.

  • Install Bat nets

Bat nets are one of the common and non-injurious ways of scaring bats. Like wire gauze, bat nets are used to cover larger spaces or holes. These nets will prevent them from gaining access to any of the openings.

Some examples of openings to use bat nets include;

  • Water reservoirs,
  • Wide chimneys.
  • Remove all sources of food.

Of course, this should be the first prevention method, but how can you determine what item entices the bat in your homes? Inspection helps you to know the species of Bats you are dealing with.

  • Using Bat Cone Bats deterrent

Experts claim this is the best method of exercising the exclusion methods. It involves using a one-way entrance to exit points. Once the bats exits, they will be unable to enter that region through the exit point and ultimately discover the loss of their house.

How to Remove Bats from the Attic?

Although bats are best known for flying out into the sky when nightfall arrives, many others remember them for the countless bats that have found their way into an attic. A perfect match for a bat, attics give potential food, shelter, places to hang, cool temperatures, near 24/7 darkness, and much more that a bat finds helpful in surviving.

Although you might not be afraid of bats, what they can do might be a little scary. Bats can prove pretty destructive to much of your home, especially in your attic, and it’s important to take into account everything that can occur if you’re not quick to remove the bats. Whether that’s in the diseases and corrosion that come with bat poop (guano) or potential rabies from the animal itself, bats can prove decently scary when left to roam your attic.

As such, it’s important to get them out of there as soon as possible – and, while that might seem easier said than done, it shouldn’t take too much effort. So, how can you remove bats from your attic?

Find the Bats and their Entrances

The very first thing you need to do is ensure that there are bats in your attic and not another creature. Whether that’s by finding guano smudged around your house and its surroundings or finding a bat itself, it doesn’t really matter. The important thing is to ensure that you know that there are bats in your attic because many solutions to a bat infestation don’t really work with other animals.

Once you have at least spotted a bat moving in or out of the attic or have encountered signs that boost your confidence in it being a bat, then look for entrances at one of two important times: the middle of the day when bats are asleep or nightfall after you’re confident that all the bats have left. The first time is recommended more, although if you’re confident every single bat has left, you can just seal off the entrances at night.

When looking for entrances, look for vents, openings, small holes, or cracks near the corners of the attic. Bats are small creatures, and it can be hard to spot where they enter your attic, but it’s important to look carefully and wherever you can, safely.

Either way, afterward, make sure that you have at least every entrance, but one sealed off. Leaving one entrance allows you to use a trap, flap, cone, or another easy-to-use way of removing bats and ensuring they stay out. Importantly, however, make sure that there aren’t any baby bats. These guys are more resilient than some other attic creatures, although if there are any, you shouldn’t use traps or other surprising measures.

Removing Bats

Once you’ve locked off all but one entrance and looked for baby bats, then it’s time to remove the bats. Although many think of cage traps designed for bats as one of the simplest approaches, it’s usually not. While it definitely works as efficiently as these other methods, it can be tougher to set up and then relocate the bats without the right assistance.

As such, you can try a bat flap or cone instead. Bat cones, for example, screw onto an exit, allowing bats to leave, but not to return. These cones are made of plastic, and have a little space inside that allows bats to leave through the exit, but blocks them from coming back in. Once every bat has left, you can then keep them out by blocking off that entrance permanently.

The other method is a bat flap, which works as a larger version of the mechanism inside a cone. For larger entrances, bat flaps are larger flaps, similar to dog or cat door flaps, allowing the bats to leave, but likewise, not to return. Both of these methods are virtually guaranteed to be legal and effective, preventing any injury and even working for baby bats if they leave.

Aftermath

Once you’re done, it’s important to get cleaning materials and scrub the entire area. Bats can carry seriously dangerous diseases and acids, which can quickly hurt you or your attic. Corrosive and dangerous, guano is a noteworthy example, one that can quickly turn an easy bat removal into a painful process.

We recommend you contact a local professional or animal control for more information on how to clean up the area, especially as every situation has its own solution. It’s essential, however, that you seal off every entrance as soon as you’re sure the animals are out of your attic, just so that they don’t get back in.
